中国科学院大学陈恺教授学术报告通知

报告题目:大数据时代的移动恶意软件检测(Mobile Malware Detection in Big-Data Era)

报告摘要:

Potentially harmful apps (PHAs) running in mobile devices cause potential damage to theuser's information assets (e.g., transferring private user information, exploiting known vulnerabilities, installing back-doors, etc). An app market's vetting process is expected to bescalable and effective in handling millions of apps. However, today’s vetting mechanisms are slow and less capable of catching new threats. In this talk, we show that through effective analysis of over a million Android apps, previously unknown PHAs can be detected within a few seconds, without resorting to conventional Anti-Virus means such as signatures and behavior patterns. Also, we made the first in-depth analysis on potentially-harmful libraries (PhaLibs) on mobile platforms, especially iOS platform, which has never been done before due to the challenges in identifying those libraries whose code can be unavailable online and no publicly available anti-virus (AV) systems for detecting iOS PHAs. Those libraries are found to contain risky behaviors such as reading from their host apps' keychain, stealthily recording audio and video and even attempting to make phone calls.

报告人简介:

Dr. Kai Chen is a professor in Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010, and has since then joined Chinese Academy of Sciences as a faculty member. His work focuses on system and software security, and privacy. He has been publishing high-impact research across top security/SE venues like IEEE S&P, USENIX Security, ACM CCS, ICSE, ASE and TRE. His work frequently receives attention from media, including CNN, Threatpost, SCMagazine, etc.

陈恺,中国科学院大学教授,中国科学院信息工程研究所信息安全国家重点实验室,研究员,博士生导师。中国保密协会隐私保护专业委员会委员,中国科学院青年创新促进会会员,中国网络空间安全协会全国高校网安联赛监督委员会委员。中国科学院研究生院获博士学位,美国宾州大学博士后。主要研究领域包括软件安全、智能终端安全、安全测评和隐私保护。在诸多国际顶级会议如IEEE安全与隐私大会(IEEE S&P)、USENIX安全大会(USENIX Security)、ACM计算机与通讯安全大会(ACM CCS)、国际软件工程大会(ICSE)、IEEE/ACM自动化软件工程大会(ASE)、IEEE Trans. on Reliability等发表论文50余篇,多次在国际学术会议上做大会报告;获得与申请专利12项;曾主持和参加国家自然科学基金、863计划、中科院战略性先导科技专项、国家发改委信息安全专项等国家部委课题30余项;TDSC、TIFS、Computers & Security等SCI期刊评审专家;AsiaCCS、SecureComm等多个国际会议委员会成员;国家自然科学基金评审专家,国家博士后基金评审专家。
