贝勒医学院王俊教授学术报告

Abstract:Dr. Wang’s research interest is mainly focused on the molecular and genetic regulation of craniofacial and cardiac development, disease and tissue regeneration. In her presentation, Dr. Wang will talk about results describing how transcription factors and small non-coding RNAs control cardiac and craniofacial morphogenesis and disease. For example, miR-17-92 deficiency leads to a variety of craniofacial abnormalities in mice including cleft lip and cleft palate, which are common human birth defects. Moreover, mice with miR-17-92 deficiency have increased susceptibility to atrial fibrillation, the most common adult cardiac arrhythmia in humans.

Dr. Wang will also discuss recent studies focusing on the role of Hippo signaling in neural crest (NC) stem cells. NC stem cells are migratory multi-potent cells that can differentiate into different derivatives including bone, cartilage, neurons, glia, smooth muscle, melanocytes and adipocytes, making a remarkable contribution to embryonic and adult development. Defective NC development results in the most common human birth defects resulting in a large impact on the life of patients and their families. Dr. Wang will show data indicating that the Hippo-Yap pathway plays a pivotal role in NC stem cell proliferation and differentiation. At the end, Dr. Wang will briefly discuss current ongoing research projects of her group.

Biography:

报告人简介:王俊博士2010年获美国德州农工大学健康医学中心医学科学博士学位,2014年在美国贝勒医学院结束博士后研究并留任助理教授。王俊博士长期从事心脏发育和心脏疾病机制的研究,已发表论文25篇,其中一作和通讯作者9篇,论文发表在Developmental Cell、PNAS、Science、Plos Genetics及Development等国际核心期刊。此外,王俊博士还参与了多本心脏发育书籍编写,并应邀在多个国际会议上做主席或做大会报告。王俊博士现为美国发育协会、心脏协会会员和恩科心血管研究院终身会员,曾获Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence奖,现为美国心脏协会和美国国立卫生研究院多个课题项目负责人。
